Best Hybrid Long-Short SIF Funds in India

Hybrid long-short SIFs blend equity and debt with a hedge on top — which makes "best performing" a different question from the pure-equity category. Here's how to find the current leaders and what to check beyond the return number.

Hybrid Long-Short is one of the more established SIF categories, and it's also one of the most frequently searched — but like every SIF category, the actual leaderboard moves with every NAV update. Here's how to see the current standings yourself, and what makes evaluating a hybrid fund different from a pure equity long-short one.

See the current Hybrid Long-Short leaderboard

The Performance Dashboard has a dedicated Hybrid Long-Short section, ranking every tracked hybrid fund by Since Inception return, alongside 1W through 1Y figures. For a filterable, sortable view of the same funds — including AUM, expense ratio, and risk-o-meter side by side — use the SIF screener filtered to Hybrid Long-Short.

Both pull from the same database every other page on this site reads, so what you see matches each fund's own page — not a number frozen at the time an article was published.

What makes "best" different for this category

A hybrid long-short fund runs two sleeves at once — an equity book (long and short) and a fixed-income allocation — so evaluating one means checking more than a single long-short equity fund would:

  1. The debt-to-equity split. Two hybrid funds with similar headline returns can carry very different equity exposure. Check the portfolio disclosure's asset-type breakdown (see how to read a SIF's portfolio disclosure) rather than assuming "hybrid" means a fixed 50/50 mix.
  2. Duration risk on the debt sleeve. A longer-duration debt allocation is more sensitive to interest rate moves. The fund's factsheet (linked from its SIF page) usually states average maturity or modified duration for the fixed-income book.
  3. Net equity exposure, not gross. Same principle as any long-short strategy — see understanding long-short equity strategies for how gross and net exposure differ, and why that matters more than the category label alone.
  4. Costs and exit terms. Expense ratio and exit load for every hybrid scheme are on the Costs page.

Compare your shortlist

Once you've narrowed down candidates using the checks above, send up to four hybrid funds to the comparison engine for a side-by-side view across every return period, AUM, and risk-o-meter.
